Therapy.

People wonder, what will I be expected to say? What will be said to me? No matter what we hear about the counseling process, a few things hold consistently true: therapy is personal. It can, at times, be challenging but it holds great potential to heal and change.

Whether it's a fractured relationship, deep depression, mounting anxiety or a grief that seems to never quite subside, seeking help can move you from a place of feeling alone and stuck to a place of growth, change and hope.

The first step in seeking a counselor can often be a difficult one. I hope you'll remember it is also one of great courage. You are daring to believe there is something better for yourself. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I hope you are proud of this initial step and I welcome the opportunity to get to know you further.

Someone once asked me why we (therapists) do this for a living.

Because to us, to do anything would not be living. For who else is granted the sacred gift of tending to another person’t tattered and broken soul? Who else is called as witness to discover the depth and beauty of a person, when they or others can no longer see? Who else is called to listen to all that has been left unsaid, seeking voice? Who else is called to become entangled in the story so that a new story can be written? And who else discovers their own soul, when they have touched the soul of another? Why do we do this for a living? How can we not?

A bit about me…

Born and raised in northwest Virginia, I moved to Seattle in 2005 to attend The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and opened my private therapy practice in 2009. My psychological training is in psychodynamic, existential and relational approaches.

What is a psychodynamic relational therapist?

During graduate school, I completed an internship at Sound Mental Health, counseling children and adolescents. Prior to graduate school, I worked for five years as a caseworker and Asia Program Director for an international adoption agency in northern Virginia. My work there encompassed both family intervention and crisis management.

I am married and my partner and I live just outside of Seattle with our two children and two dogs. I am an adventurer and love to explore new places, but give me the beach always! I like to unwind with tough workouts, yoga, gardening, reading, taking on a challenging creative project and long walks with our mini golden doodle, Lucy who I love SO much and sometimes bring to work with me. Lucy LOVES all the people and is a favorite in my office. My favorite activity is connecting, talking and laughing with friends.

My office

I am available for both in person and online counseling. My office is located just south of downtown Bellevue in the Cedar Building of Bellefield Office Park.
